24-hour, 7-day protection
The majority of security companies in America use only one monitoring center, which sometimes isn’t even located within the country. ADT uses nine interconnected Customer Monitoring Centers (CMC), located strategically throughout North America. These command centers are equipped with both powerful equipment and security professionals, making ADT the premiere home security company. In the event of an emergency, the system will contact one of ADT’s monitoring centers. The monitoring center will attempt to reach the homeowner by phone before notifying the local authorities. Unlike other security companies, ADT is prepared for emergencies at any time, day or night.
- CMC’s respond to over 29 million alarm signals every year
- 93,000+ alarms every day
- 200,000+ total calls every day (inbound/outbound)
- 8,000+ customer contacts every hour (24/7)
- CMC’s take over 19 million calls from customers every year
- CMC’s process 3.3 customer transactions per second
- For the satisfaction and safety of the customer, if one CMC becomes overwhelmed with excessive alarm signal traffic, or becomes non-functional, all alarm signals can be rerouted to another one of ADT’s nine monitoring centers.

Home security tips
In conjunction with your home security system, there are further steps you can take to make sure your home is as safe as possible.
- If you are on vacation or away from home for an extended period of time, make it look like someone is still in the house. Leave a television or stereo on in your home.
- Ensure that all exterior doors have sturdy locks by installing 1-inch deadbolt locks.
- Make glass patio doors burglar-proof by placing a metal pipe or bar in the middle bottom track of the door slide. This object should be the same length as the track.
- If there is a knock at the door or the doorbell rings, check to see who is there before opening.
- Don’t leave any spare keys to the house in obvious hiding places like under the door mat or potted plants. Burglars will typically find them. Leave spare keys with a trusted neighbor or somewhere low-profile.
- Always keep your garage door shut as well as drapes and blinds.
- Keep jewelry and other valuables in a safe or safety deposit box.
- Don’t leave notes on the door or any other indicators that you may not be home.
- If leaving town for an extended period of time, adjust your telephone volume to the lowest setting. Unanswered phone calls can tip an intruder that you aren’t home.
